Rihanna (pronounced /riːˈɑːnə/; born Robyn Rihanna Fenty on February 20, 1988) is a Bajan singer. She is the first female and the second known person from Barbados to have received a Grammy Award (the first being Jimmy Senya Haynes). Rihanna is currently signed to the Def Jam Recordings label.
Contrary to popular belief in Barbados, Rihanna was not honoured with a national holiday on 21st February, 2008. During a tribute to Rihanna, she was designated a cultural ambassador and presented with a parcel of land in Apes Hill, St. James.
